Make sure the drawer closes fully and nothing blocks its seal. On models with a convertible drawer, confirm it hasn't been set to a warmer mode. If it's still warm, the fan or damper serving that section may have failed.
A clogged defrost drain is a common cause. Meltwater from each defrost cycle backs up and runs into the fresh-food section instead of the pan underneath. The drain has to be cleared from inside, and a drain that keeps freezing points at the defrost system.
Confirm the ice maker is switched on and the freezer is at 0 to 5 degrees. Then look for ice jammed in the fill tube or mold. If water isn't reaching it at all, the inlet valve or water filter is the next suspect, especially on hard water.
Cooling starts as soon as the fault is fixed, but a refrigerator that has warmed to room temperature can take up to 24 hours to settle at its set temperatures. Keep perishable food elsewhere until a thermometer confirms it.
