A column has its own evaporator, fan and defrost cycle, so the same faults that warm a normal fridge apply. Check that the condenser area is clear and the door seals. If the evaporator has iced over, the defrost system is the likely cause.
The door alarm can sound if one French door isn't fully closing, often because a drawer or bin is catching or the door has dropped slightly on its hinge. Check the doors close evenly. If they do and it still alarms, a door switch or the control may be at fault.
