A squeal or chirp that stops when you open the freezer door usually comes from the evaporator fan motor, since opening the door switches the fan off on many models. Its bearings are wearing out. It can also be ice rubbing the fan blade, which points to a defrost problem.
It will run, but check the operating range in the manual first.
