Maytag refrigerators today are Whirlpool-built top-freezer, side-by-side and French-door models, many with a PowerCold fast-chill setting. Because the cabinets, fans, defrost parts and ice makers are shared with Whirlpool, parts are straightforward to identify. Older Maytag models designed before the merger are a different story, and some of their boards and ice makers are scarce. On dispenser models, weak water flow is more often a filter or a scaled inlet valve than anything else, since the dispenser runs on household water pressure.
Worth knowing about Maytag: Maytag has been part of Whirlpool since 2006, so a Maytag built in the years since shares its internals and parts with Whirlpool models. Also, Maytag machines from before the Whirlpool merger are mechanically solid, but some of their parts are no longer made, so we confirm the part exists before recommending the repair.

What Maytag refrigerator repairs usually involve
Parts for Maytag are made in volume and stocked by many suppliers. On a Maytag refrigerator, the parts that wear out are mostly inexpensive ones: fan motors, defrost heaters and thermostats, temperature sensors, door gaskets, water inlet valves and ice makers.
The bill changes when the fault is a main control board or the sealed system (the compressor and refrigerant circuit). A filter that isn't fully seated, or the wrong filter, can restrict flow, so reseat it and check its part number. Air in the line also slows the first few glasses; dispense water for a few minutes to purge it. If flow stays weak, the inlet valve may be partly blocked by scale.
