Thermador dishwasher repair: what to know
Thermador dishwashers, including the Sapphire and Star Sapphire lines, are built on the same BSH platform as Bosch, so they share the sealed base pan, the leak-protection float and much of the fault-code logic. An E15 means water is in the base, and E24 or E25 point to drain restrictions. Many are panel-ready, which adds weight to the door springs and cables. Drying is by condensation, helped by rinse aid, so damp plastics are expected rather than a fault.

How we diagnose a Thermador dishwasher
Whatever the brand, on a dishwasher we check the water supply, then drainage, then the spray arms — dirty dishes come from a supply, spray-arm or filter problem much more often than from a failed pump or motor.
One dishwasher problem that often sends people to the wrong part is wet plastics and cool dishes from a condensation-drying model, which is the design working as intended on many European-style dishwashers.
Built-in Thermador equipment: what the visit involves
Most Thermador equipment is built into cabinetry or anchored in place, so the visit starts with working out how to reach it. We allow a longer appointment and protect floors, cabinet faces and countertops before anything moves.
It changes the economics as well. Replacing a fitted Thermador dishwasher usually means cabinet or countertop work on top of the new appliance, so a failure that would retire a freestanding unit is usually still a repair here.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are on the edge of the door or the side of the tub, visible when the door is open. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Thermador platform you have and which parts to bring.
Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub, check that the spray arms spin freely and their holes aren't plugged, and top up the rinse aid. If water is left standing, check the connection to the garbage disposal as well.
In San Antonio, keep in mind San Antonio's very hard water — SAWS puts its typical hardness at 15 to 20 grains per gallon — which leaves film on glasses, plugs spray-arm holes and scales the heater, along with a hardness setting on many dishwashers that nobody ever changed.

Many internal parts overlap, because both are BSH designs, but the door, trim and some components are Thermador-specific. Parts are ordered by the model and FD number on the label along the edge of the door, which settles exactly what fits.
The door is counterbalanced by springs and cables, and the spring tension has to suit the weight of your custom panel. If a cable has frayed or the tension is set too light, the door drops. Replacing the worn parts and setting the tension for the panel fixes it.
E15 means water has reached the base pan and lifted the leak float. Turn the dishwasher off and check under the sink for drips at the supply and drain connections. The leak inside the machine, often a hose, pump seal or door gasket, has to be fixed before the code will stay clear.
Not if it's leaking onto the floor, smells of burning or trips the breaker. A dishwasher that leaves water behind or cleans poorly won't be harmed by waiting, but clean the filter first, since it's a common cause of both.
