Samsung dishwasher repair: what to know
Samsung dishwashers report trouble with codes rather than just stopping. LC means water has reached the leak sensor in the base, which can come from a real leak or from oversudsing, and many models won't run until the base dries. 5C or 5E means a drain problem, often a clogged filter or kinked hose, and HE points at the heater. On models with the WaterWall system, a moving vane replaces the lower spray arm, so a stuck vane changes how the bottom rack gets cleaned.

How we diagnose a Samsung dishwasher
Whatever the brand, on a dishwasher we check the water supply, then drainage, then the spray arms — dirty dishes come from a supply, spray-arm or filter problem much more often than from a failed pump or motor.
One dishwasher symptom that's easy to misread is wet plastics and cool dishes from a condensation-drying model, which is the design working as intended on many European-style dishwashers.
What Samsung dishwasher repairs usually involve
Parts for Samsung are made in volume and stocked by many suppliers. On a Samsung dishwasher, the parts that wear out are mostly inexpensive ones: drain pumps, inlet valves, door latches, heating elements, float switches and spray arms.
The bill changes when the fault is the main control board or the wash motor. On a newer unit that can still be a sensible repair; on one well into its working life, it's often the point where replacing makes more sense, and you'll hear that at the diagnosis.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are on the edge of the door or the side of the tub, visible when the door is open. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Samsung platform you have and which parts to bring.
Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub, check that the spray arms spin freely and their holes aren't plugged, and top up the rinse aid. If water is left standing, check the connection to the garbage disposal as well.

LC means the float or sensor in the base has detected water. Turn the dishwasher off, check for suds from the wrong detergent and look for drips at the door, then let the base dry out, which can take a day. If LC returns after a normal cycle, there's a real leak to find.
WaterWall models use a vane that travels along the back of the tub to redirect a sheet of water. If food or a utensil blocks its track, or its motor fails, the vane stops and part of the rack gets missed. Clear the track and filter first; if it still doesn't move, the drive needs testing.
4C means the dishwasher isn't getting enough water in the time it expects. Check that the supply valve under the sink is fully open and the inlet hose isn't kinked. If the supply is good, the inlet valve screen may be clogged with scale or the valve itself may have failed.
Standing water can be a clogged filter, a blocked disposal inlet or a failed drain pump, and poor cleaning can be scale, a blocked arm or a weak wash pump. Testing separates the simple fixes from the part replacements.
