Roper stove repair: what to know
The Roper name started on gas stoves, and today's Roper stove is a basic 30-inch freestanding gas or electric coil model built on a Whirlpool platform. Gas versions light the bake burner with a glow-bar igniter; depending on the design, broiling happens at a separate burner at the top of the oven or in a drawer below it. Electric versions use coil surface elements with bake and broil elements in the oven. Door hinges and drawer rollers take daily wear.
Worth knowing about Roper: Roper is Whirlpool's entry-level brand, with the same basic mechanics and simpler controls. Also, with few electronics on board, most Roper problems turn out to be simple parts — lid and door switches, pumps, belts, thermal fuses.

One stove symptom that's easy to misread is a burner that keeps clicking, which usually means a wet or dirty igniter rather than an electrical failure and often stops once the burner is properly cleaned and dried.
When a Roper stove is worth fixing
Roper keeps its appliances simple and affordable, with little electronics inside, so most failures come down to a switch, pump, belt, valve or thermal fuse that is quick to find and not costly to replace.
A new Roper doesn't cost much either, so a repair has to stay small to be worth it. If an older unit has a major failure, such as an electronic control board or a gas safety valve, replacing it is usually the better use of the money.

It depends on the design. Some gas stoves have a separate broil burner with its own igniter at the top of the oven; others broil in a drawer beneath the oven using the bake burner. Which one yours is decides whether a broil igniter or something else is at fault.
The hinges have springs that hold the door closed, and a broken spring or worn hinge lets it drop. Hinges or springs are replaced as a pair so the door closes evenly, and the door gasket is checked at the same time.
Switch the stove off at the breaker; a switch whose contacts have welded can leave the element on. Don't use that burner until the switch is replaced, and have the terminals checked for scorching.
Which half failed and which part. Burner caps, igniters and infinite switches on the cooktop are small parts; oven igniters, elements and sensors are routine; control boards and glass tops cost more. The quote comes after testing.
