Dacor stove repair: what to know
Many Dacor stoves still in service are older freestanding and slide-in models from lines such as Epicure and Distinctive. Those ranges rely on a spark module for the burners and, on gas ovens, a hot-surface igniter, and both wear with age. Some of their control and trim parts are no longer made, while burner parts, igniters and elements are often still available, so the model and serial number decide what's possible before anything is ordered.
Worth knowing about Dacor: Dacor burners, elements and igniters are replaceable parts, so mechanical repairs remain worth doing well past the ten-year mark. Also, on Dacor equipment built before Samsung took over, the proprietary control boards are what's most likely to have gone out of production, and we check that before quoting.

How we diagnose a Dacor stove
Whatever the brand, on a stove we check burners and igniters first, the oven's sensor and element next, the door last — cooktop and oven fail independently, so we pin down which side is actually at fault.
One stove problem that often sends people to the wrong part is a burner that keeps clicking, which usually means a wet or dirty igniter rather than an electrical failure and often stops once the burner is properly cleaned and dried.
Built-in Dacor equipment: what the visit involves
Most Dacor equipment is built into cabinetry or anchored in place, so the visit starts with working out how to reach it. We allow a longer appointment and protect floors, cabinet faces and countertops before anything moves.
It changes the economics as well. Replacing a fitted Dacor stove usually means cabinet or countertop work on top of the new appliance, so a failure that would retire a freestanding unit is usually still a repair here.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are behind the storage drawer, on the frame behind the oven door, or on the back. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Dacor platform you have and which parts to bring.
Work out which half has the problem, a burner or the oven. Check that burner caps are seated and the igniters are clean and dry, and note any error code on the control.

Yes. On many ranges one spark module fires all the electrodes together while any knob is in the light position. Constant clicking with every knob off means a spark switch is stuck, often from moisture or a spill behind a knob.
The hot-surface igniter has to glow hot enough, and draw enough current, to open the oven gas valve. As it ages it takes longer, or never opens the valve at all. Replacing the igniter is a routine repair on most models.
Heavy pro-style doors put a lot of load on the hinges, and worn hinges let the door sag or sit slightly open. That lets heat escape and slows baking. Hinges are replaced as a pair, and the model number shows whether the originals are still made.
Usually yes, if the fault is limited to the oven and there's no gas smell, sparking or breaker tripping. If the stove has a gas leak or an electrical fault, don't use any part of it.
