Kenmore stoves are freestanding ranges built by Frigidaire (790 prefix) and, on some models, Whirlpool. The Frigidaire-built gas models share parts with Frigidaire stoves, including glow-bar oven igniters that weaken over time and sealed surface burners. Electric coil stoves wear out burner receptacles and infinite switches. Because many Kenmore stoves in older homes are well past their first decade, a missing anti-tip bracket or loose leveling leg is worth checking at any visit.
Worth knowing about Kenmore: Kenmore never built its own appliances; Sears sold models made by Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, GE and others, and the digits before the decimal point in a Kenmore model number name the maker. Also, without the model number there is no way to tell whose engineering sits behind a Kenmore badge, or which parts will fit it.

On Frigidaire-built gas models, a weakening glow-bar igniter is a common cause. It glows but doesn't pull enough current to open the gas valve promptly. Testing the igniter's current confirms it.
If the model number starts with 790, the stove is Frigidaire-built and most oven and surface parts are the Frigidaire part under a different label. The exact part still has to match the full model number, because Frigidaire used several igniter and element styles over the years. A stove with a different prefix uses that maker's parts instead.
