Miele stove repair: what to know
Miele doesn't sell anything it calls a stove, but its freestanding ranges, in all-gas and dual-fuel versions, are what the word usually means. The cooktop above uses sealed gas burners with electronic ignition, and the oven below is gas or electric depending on the model. That split decides the diagnosis: an oven that won't heat on an all-gas model points toward ignition, while on a dual-fuel model it points toward elements, sensors or controls.
Worth knowing about Miele: Miele engineers for a long working life and keeps parts available for years, so a Miele in its second decade is often still a reasonable repair.

Repairing a Miele stove instead of replacing it

Make sure the burner cap sits flat and the ports are clean and dry. A wet or dirty ignition electrode is common after a boil-over. If the burner still won't light, the electrode, the ignition module or the gas supply to that burner needs checking.
A brief smell as a burner lights can be normal; a lingering smell isn't. Turn the burners off, don't operate electrical switches, leave the house and call CPS Energy or your gas provider from outside. Once it's safe, the source can be found and repaired.
