Bosch stove repair: what to know
Bosch doesn't sell a product called a stove; the cooktop-over-oven appliances it makes are slide-in ranges, and this page covers its electric and induction versions. On a Bosch electric slide-in, the glass-ceramic top, the radiant or induction zones and the oven below each have their own failure points. A zone that won't heat points to its element or the control that switches it, while an oven that bakes unevenly may have a convection fan or sensor fault. Slide-ins also need the anti-tip bracket engaged.
Worth knowing about Bosch: a Bosch runs quietly enough that a pump or bearing starting to go is audible well ahead of a breakdown, so a new noise is worth a call early.

How we diagnose a Bosch stove
Whatever the brand, on a stove we check burners and igniters first, the oven's sensor and element next, the door last — cooktop and oven fail independently, so we pin down which side is actually at fault.
One stove symptom that's easy to misread is a burner that keeps clicking, which usually means a wet or dirty igniter rather than an electrical failure and often stops once the burner is properly cleaned and dried.
Repairing a Bosch stove instead of replacing it
Bosch builds for a long working life and keeps parts available for years. When one component fails on a Bosch stove that's ten or fifteen years old, the rest of the machine often has plenty of life left, which isn't always true of an entry-level appliance at that age.
Bosch parts cost more and are more often special-order, so some repairs need a second visit. You'll know the wait before you agree to the repair, and the return visit is booked before we leave.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are behind the storage drawer, on the frame behind the oven door, or on the back. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Bosch platform you have and which parts to bring.
Work out which half has the problem, a burner or the oven. Check that burner caps are seated and the igniters are clean and dry, and note any error code on the control.

Yes, in everyday terms. Bosch calls it a range: a cooktop on top and an oven below, designed to slide between cabinets with the controls at the front. The cooktop and oven have separate heating circuits, so one half often works while the other doesn't.
If the other zones work, the usual cause is that zone's element or the relay that switches it. A dual zone that heats weakly may have only one of its two rings working. Measuring the element's resistance shows which part to replace.
Touch controls react to water, spills and pans resting on the control strip, and many models beep or lock until the area is clean and dry. A child lock can also be switched on by accident; the manual shows how to release it. A panel that stays unresponsive when clean and dry may have a failing touch board.
A burner that won't light can be a wet electrode, a clogged port or a failed spark module, and an oven that won't heat can be an igniter, an element or the control. Each needs its own check before a part is chosen.
