Whirlpool wall ovens and range ovens use a hidden bake element on many electric models and a glow-bar igniter on gas models, and some offer AquaLift, a low-heat cleaning cycle that uses water instead of a high-temperature self-clean. A gas Whirlpool oven that is slow to light often has an igniter that still glows but no longer draws enough current to open the safety valve. On electric models, a failed bake element under the floor panel shows up as slow, top-heavy cooking.

What Whirlpool oven repairs usually involve
Parts for Whirlpool are made in volume and stocked by many suppliers. On a Whirlpool oven, the parts that wear out are mostly inexpensive ones: bake and broil elements, gas igniters, temperature sensors, door gaskets and hinges.

AquaLift is a cleaning cycle that heats a small amount of water poured onto the oven floor to loosen soil, at a far lower temperature than a traditional self-clean. It needs a wipe-out afterward and won't shift heavy baked-on grease. If the cycle won't start, the control or the door is usually the issue rather than the heating parts.
A glow-bar igniter has to pass enough current to heat the bimetal in the gas safety valve and open it. As igniters age, they keep glowing but stop drawing enough current, so the valve stays shut. The usual fix is a new igniter, confirmed with an amperage test.
Check whether the oven is heating only from the top: if the broil element does all the work, the hidden bake element under the floor may have failed. A temperature sensor reading wrong or a worn door gasket can also skew results. An oven thermometer on the center rack helps you describe what's happening.
An oven that won't heat can have a weak igniter, a burned element, a failed sensor or a stuck relay. Measuring each one is quicker and cheaper for you than replacing parts one at a time.
