Dacor oven repair: what to know
Dacor wall ovens run from older Renaissance models through the Discovery line to current designs, and many use Dacor's Four-Part Pure Convection, which pairs a convection fan with its own element. Older models may carry discontinued control boards and door parts, so part availability is checked against the model number before anything else. Steam-assisted models add a water reservoir and steam generator, which collect scale quickly on hard water and prompt for descaling.
Worth knowing about Dacor: Dacor burners, elements and igniters are replaceable parts, so mechanical repairs remain worth doing well past the ten-year mark. Also, on Dacor equipment built before Samsung took over, the proprietary control boards are what's most likely to have gone out of production, and we check that before quoting.

How we diagnose a Dacor oven
Whatever the brand, on an oven we check the temperature sensor and the bake element or igniter, then the door gasket and hinges — a door that no longer shuts flat bleeds off enough heat to pass for a control problem.
One oven symptom that's easy to misread is an oven its owner thinks runs cold that is actually cycling normally around a setpoint a few degrees off, something most models let you correct with a calibration setting instead of a part.
Built-in Dacor equipment: what the visit involves
Most Dacor equipment is built into cabinetry or anchored in place, so the visit starts with working out how to reach it. We allow a longer appointment and protect floors, cabinet faces and countertops before anything moves.
It changes the economics as well. Replacing a fitted Dacor oven usually means cabinet or countertop work on top of the new appliance, so a failure that would retire a freestanding unit is usually still a repair here.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are on the frame behind the oven door, or behind the storage or warming drawer. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Dacor platform you have and which parts to bring.
Check the breaker (electric ovens use a double breaker), make sure the control isn't in a delay, lock or Sabbath mode, and on a gas range confirm the cooktop burners still light. Note whether bake, broil or both have stopped.
In San Antonio, keep in mind Thanksgiving and holiday baking, when an oven that's barely been used all year is asked to hold temperature for hours and a weak igniter or element finally shows itself.

Dacor's Four-Part Pure Convection uses a fan with a dedicated element around it, on top of the usual bake and broil elements. If convection baking has slowed but regular bake works, the convection element or fan motor is the likely culprit rather than the main controls.
Steam ovens track how much water they've used and prompt for descaling, and very hard water brings that prompt sooner. Descale with the product and procedure in the manual. Skipping it lets scale build in the steam generator, which leads to weak steam and error codes.
Igniters, elements and sensors are common parts for many models, so a first-visit repair is often possible. Control boards, door glass and parts for older or less common models may need ordering.
