Maytag washers include Commercial Technology top-loaders with agitators, Pet Pro models with an extra lint filter, and front-loaders, all built on Whirlpool platforms today. The current top-loaders shift between wash and spin with a shift actuator and lock the lid before spinning, so a washer that fills and agitates but won't spin often has a lid lock or shifter fault rather than a bad motor. Earlier Bravos and Centennial models, and the older Neptune front-loaders, are different generations with their own parts.
Worth knowing about Maytag: Maytag has been part of Whirlpool since 2006, so a Maytag built in the years since shares its internals and parts with Whirlpool models.
