Electrolux washer repair: what to know
Electrolux washers are front-loaders, many with steam and features such as LuxCare wash and a fast-wash option. The steam system adds a generator fed by its own water path, and on very hard water it can scale and stop producing steam. Mechanically they follow the Electrolux platform shared with Frigidaire front-loaders: a door lock, a drain pump behind a front access panel and a door boot that needs regular wiping. On many of these machines, E11 relates to filling and E21 to draining.
Worth knowing about Electrolux: Electrolux shares engineering with Frigidaire and adds upgraded finishes, insulation and its own control electronics, so some parts cross between the two and the boards generally don't. Also, Electrolux front-loaders usually signal worn suspension parts by shaking and walking during spin, a useful warning well ahead of anything breaking.

How we diagnose an Electrolux washer
Whatever the brand, on a washer we check draining first, filling second, the drive system last — a washer that refuses to spin is usually one that can't get rid of its water, and clogged pumps and filters cause that far more often than bad motors or boards.
One washer symptom that's easy to misread is a washer error code taken to mean a broken part when it's describing a situation: an off-balance load, a water valve only partly open, or a drain hose shoved so deep into the standpipe that it siphons.
Repairing an Electrolux washer instead of replacing it
Electrolux builds for a long working life and keeps parts available for years. When one component fails on an Electrolux washer that's ten or fifteen years old, the rest of the machine often has plenty of life left, which isn't always true of an entry-level appliance at that age.
Electrolux parts cost more and are more often special-order, so some repairs need a second visit. You'll know the wait before you agree to the repair, and the return visit is booked before we leave.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are under the lid or around the door opening, or on the back panel. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Electrolux platform you have and which parts to bring.
Front-loaders have a drain filter behind a small panel at the bottom; check it for socks and coins. Make sure both water valves are fully open and the drain hose isn't pushed too far down the standpipe, and write down any error code.
In San Antonio, keep in mind mineral scale clogging inlet screens and valves until the washer throws slow-fill codes, and garage laundry where hoses sit in summer heat and, on the rare hard freeze, can split.

On many Electrolux front-loaders, E11 is a fill problem and E21 is a drain problem. For E11, check that both taps are fully open and the hose screens aren't clogged. For E21, clean the drain pump filter at the bottom front before assuming the pump has failed.
The steam generator has its own water supply and heater, and minerals from hard water can clog it. A failed heater or valve can also stop steam. The washer will usually still wash normally, so this can wait for a convenient appointment.
Check the door boot for a tear or a sock caught in the fold, and make sure the drain pump filter cap is fully tightened. Too much detergent can also push suds out of the dispenser. A leak under the machine rather than at the door points at a hose or the pump.
The part and the labor to reach it. Drain pumps, lid locks and inlet valves are fairly contained jobs. Tub bearings and seals mean taking the tub apart, which is the largest repair on most washers. You get the price after the cause is confirmed, before work begins.
