Check the faucet adapter for a worn rubber washer and make sure the quick-connect is seated fully. Many portable washers need an adapter matched to your faucet's thread size. A drip only while filling usually means the adapter, not the washer.
Make sure the load isn't too big or bunched to one side, since a compact drum unbalances easily. Check that the lid switch clicks when the lid closes. If water is still in the tub, the drain has failed first, and a washer that can't drain won't spin.
Light compact washers move more than full-size machines when a load goes out of balance. Level the feet, spread the load evenly and run smaller loads. A washer that bangs even with light loads may have worn suspension parts.
