A thermal fuse on the exhaust path blows when the dryer overheats, which usually traces back to lint in the vent rather than a bad part. Squealing or thumping from the drum points at the rear support rollers or the idler pulley, both of which wear with use.

Clean the lint screen, then run the dryer on high and feel the airflow at the outside vent. A weak stream points to a restricted vent rather than a failed part. On a gas dryer, check that the gas valve behind it is open.

hE is a heating error: the control isn't seeing the temperature it expects. On electric models that points at the element, thermal fuse or thermostats, and on gas models at the igniter or valve coils. A clogged vent can trigger it too, so check that the outside hood is blowing strongly before assuming a part has failed.
