Electrolux dryer repair: what to know
Electrolux dryers are front-load companions to its washers, in electric and gas versions, many with a steam refresh feature and moisture-sensing dry cycles. The steam feature uses a small water line, valve and nozzle, and hard-water scale can block that nozzle. Heat faults follow the familiar pattern: thermal limiter, thermostats and the element or gas igniter and valve coils. Moisture sensor bars inside the drum pick up a film from dryer sheets, which makes auto-dry cycles end too early.
Worth knowing about Electrolux: Electrolux shares engineering with Frigidaire and adds upgraded finishes, insulation and its own control electronics, so some parts cross between the two and the boards generally don't. Also, Electrolux front-loaders usually signal worn suspension parts by shaking and walking during spin, a useful warning well ahead of anything breaking.

How we diagnose an Electrolux dryer
Whatever the brand, on a dryer we check the airflow path before any electrical part — the vent duct, the flexible connector behind the dryer and the lint path come ahead of any element or thermal fuse, since a choked vent is usually what burned out the previous one.
One dryer symptom that's easy to misread is a dryer that's had its heating element changed twice while the blockage that killed the first one is still sitting in the vent, so the new element overheats and cuts out just like the old one.
Repairing an Electrolux dryer instead of replacing it
Electrolux builds for a long working life and keeps parts available for years. When one component fails on an Electrolux dryer that's ten or fifteen years old, the rest of the machine often has plenty of life left, which isn't always true of an entry-level appliance at that age.
Electrolux parts cost more and are more often special-order, so some repairs need a second visit. You'll know the wait before you agree to the repair, and the return visit is booked before we leave.
Before the visit
The model and serial number are inside the door opening or on the back panel. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send when you book: it tells us which Electrolux platform you have and which parts to bring.
Clean the lint screen, then run the dryer on high and feel the airflow at the outside vent. A weak stream points to a restricted vent rather than a failed part. On a gas dryer, check that the gas valve behind it is open.

Clean the two metal sensor bars inside the drum with rubbing alcohol; residue from dryer sheets makes the sensor read clothes as dry. Also check that the vent isn't restricted. If timed dry works but sensor dry doesn't, the sensor or its wiring may need testing.
Steam models are connected to the cold-water supply, usually with a Y-connector shared with the washer. If steam stops working, check that the valve is open and the hose isn't kinked. A scaled nozzle or failed valve inside the dryer is the next suspect.
No. The igniter, gas valve coils, flame sensor, thermal limiter and thermostats can each stop the heat. If the igniter doesn't glow at all, the limiter or igniter is likely; if it glows but no flame follows, the coils are a common cause.
