Bosch range repair: what to know
Bosch's gas and dual-fuel slide-in ranges pair sealed burners with either a gas oven or an electric convection oven. On a gas oven, the bake burner is lit by a hot-surface igniter that must draw enough current to open the gas valve, so a weakening igniter shows up as slow preheating before it fails outright. Dual-fuel models need both a gas supply and a 240-volt circuit, and a fault on one side leaves the other working. Any gas joint disturbed during a repair is leak-checked afterward.

A hot-surface igniter that has weakened with age can glow without drawing enough current to open the oven gas valve, so the burner lights late or not at all. The result is long preheats and a temperature that sags. Measuring the igniter's current draw confirms it.
The cooktop is gas, but the oven is electric, with bake, broil and convection elements under electronic control. Cooktop faults are ignition and burner problems, while oven faults are element, sensor or control problems. Both the gas line and the 240-volt supply need to be right for the whole range to work.
A yellow or lifting flame means poor combustion, often from a misplaced burner cap, clogged ports or orifices set for the wrong gas type. It should be corrected, because incomplete combustion produces carbon monoxide. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call CPS Energy or your gas provider from outside.
