JennAir microwaves are mostly built-in designs: undercounter microwave drawers, wall-mounted microwave and convection units, and over-the-range models in some years. Drawer units open and close with a motorized drive and position switches, a failure point a countertop microwave doesn't have. Built-in microwaves also depend on a matching trim kit for ventilation, so an overheating unit gets its installation checked as well as its cooling fan.

Check the breaker and make sure the door latches firmly. If it runs but doesn't heat, stop using it: the fault is in the high-voltage section, which isn't a do-it-yourself repair.

The drawer's motor and gears move it along tracks, and position switches tell the control when it's open or shut. An obstruction, a worn gear or a misreading switch can stop travel partway. Clear anything in the track and try again after a power reset.
A few checks can be done in place, but most internal repairs need the unit removed, because the cabinet hides the service panels. The trim kit comes off first, then the microwave slides out. Its high-voltage parts can hold a charge after unplugging, so it's a technician's job.
Built-in units have thermal protectors that cut power if they overheat. A cooling fan that isn't running, blocked vents or a missing trim kit can let heat build up. If the vents are clear, the fan or a thermal protector needs testing.
