Maytag microwaves are mostly over-the-range and countertop models, some with convection or sensor cooking, and many of their door switches, turntable motors, filters and vent parts are shared with Whirlpool-family models. A Maytag that runs, lights and turns but doesn't heat has a high-voltage fault. That circuit stays dangerous even unplugged, so it needs a technician with the equipment to discharge it. Over-the-range units add a vent fan and damper that can fail on their own.
Worth knowing about Maytag: Maytag has been part of Whirlpool since 2006, so a Maytag built in the years since shares its internals and parts with Whirlpool models. Check that the roller ring is clean and the glass tray sits properly on the drive coupler, since a misaligned tray can stall. If it still won't turn with an empty tray, the turntable motor or its coupler is the likely fault. The motor is a separate, replaceable part.
On some models the light and fan can run while the control's display is dead. A blank display with other functions working points to the control board or its power supply, sometimes after a surge. Try switching the breaker off for a minute first.
Clean the metal grease filters under the microwave regularly; on most models they can go in the dishwasher. A packed filter makes the fan work harder and pull weakly, and grease can build up on the fan itself.
